Daniel Taub is the current Israel ambassador to the United Kingdom. Recently, a deal was struck between Israel and Iran to start talks that will see the longstanding feud between the two nations come to an end. Iran wants to acquire a nuclear weapon to boost its security.
This decision doesn’t, however, go down well with the neighboring states among them being Israel. Although Iran and Israel agreed to stop their disagreements, Israel is still adamant that the deal will do little to stop their neighbor’s ambitions.
This was echoed by the country’s ambassador to the UK who insisted that the agreement was just a formality and new means to stop Iran should be set in place. Mr. Taub suggests that Middle East countries should unite to stop Iran’s intentions.
Mr. Taub was speaking after a team of delegates arrived in the United States to discuss the way forward on the Iran nuclear weapons issue. Mr. Taub insisted that to curb the current situation in the Gulf region, it would be imperative to involve Sunni affiliated nations such as Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia and many other Gulf region nations are also worried about Iran’s staunch stance on nuclear weapons acquisition. Mr. Taub emphasized the fact that Iran has enemies concerning the matter in question. He called upon these nations to forget their past differences and instead forge a path together that will see the current threat put off. Mr. Taub insisted that this would be one of the ways to build a more profound unity among the nations and prevent their constant fights.
Daniel Taub was asked during the interview with the Independent newspaper whether this was possible given the longstanding opinion concerning Israel’s presence in the region.
He admitted that it was indeed a difficult decision but one that they had no choice but to undertake. Daniel called on the nations that are focused on seeing the region move forward regarding development to take charge and lead the unity talks.
Daniel Taub appreciates the role of western nations in aiding supporting Israel in its quest to bring sanity to the region. The western countries have also lauded Israel’s role in going to talks with Iran. They label it as one of the most successful deals to have happened in history with Iran.
Daniel praised UK’s foreign secretary William Hague for ensuring that the deal took places without hitches. The UK promised to minimize the sanctions that it had placed on Iran. In return, Iran should allow United Nations Inspectors further liberty to access the country. The UK will also be able to buy uranium from Iran.
